Officer Brian Hampton

Brian Charles Hampton was born on June 2nd, 1971 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Growing up, his family moved around internationally while his father served in the military. After schooling, Brian joined the army and served selflessly for 4 years. Upon completion, he moved to Kansas where he began his police career. During his time with the police department, he served as a Patrol Officer, SWAT Team Member, Investigations (narcotics/gangs), and was in the Community Policing Unit. He received many awards throughout his career and was very well respected. Along with being an excellent police officer, Brian was a dedicated family man. In September of 2002, Brian married the love of his life, Lauren Hampton. Together with his three children, Valerie, Holly and Blake, they began their new life as a family and added two more children, Aiden and Cole, over the years. Brian will be remembered as a man that could bring laughter into any situation and put a smile on anyone’s face. He passed away May 16th, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Lauren, his children, Valerie, Holly, Blake, Aiden, Cole, and his sister, Judi. Brian was a devoted father and loving husband who will live on in the hearts and memories of his loyal family and friends.

Brian’s Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 and will begin at 1pm at Life Church located at 9800 W 135th Street, Overland Park, KS 66213 and is open to family and friends. Following the Celebration of Life, a procession will escort Detective Hampton to the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. This will be a private event. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting memorial donations in memory of Brian to the Wounded Warrior Project.
