David Schmidt

David L. “Skip” Schmidt, 81, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on June 5th at 2:30 p.m. at the Family Worship Center in Marshall and inurnment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS on Saturday, July 17th at 1 p.m. with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mary Montgomery Hospice or Jim the Wonder Dog Museum in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.  An online guestbook is available at Campbell Lewis Funeral Home

Born July 17, 1939 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Soren Schmidt and Ona Ferguson Schmidt Millington.  David graduated from Olathe High School in 1957 and then served in the United States Army.  On February 29, 1960 he married Karen Ann Henderson who survives of the home.  David and Karen moved to Marshall in 1974 where he was a salesman and business owner.  He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W.

In addition to his wife, Karen; he is survived by two sons, Lance A. Schmidt (Cheryl) of Omaha, NE and Brent S. Schmidt (Patty) of Blue Springs, MO; four grandchildren: Austin Schmidt (Liz), Aaron Wilson, Julie Oxler Stroup and Megan Myers; seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Asta VanKiersbilck of Shawnee, KS and Becky Anderson (Parris) of Bonner Springs, KS; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.

David was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kaler L. Schmidt; six brothers; two sisters; and his constant companion, Precious.
